Affair - more information

Woodland Park Zoo's two 900 pound brown bears attempt to get into a bear
resistant food container (left), and show campers why is isn't a good idea to
store food in your tent in the backcountry (right). Join us April 21 and 22,

at the zoo pays tribute to bears
WHAT:
Woodland
Park
Zoo’s second annual Bear Affair spotlights
bears in the wild and bears at the zoo – grizzlies, sloth bears
and Malayan sun bears. Enjoy keeper talks, enrichment treats for
the bears, mini-presentations on wild grizzly bears and conservation by the
Grizzly Bear Outreach Project (GBOP), bear discovery boxes, booths from
wildlife and conservation organizations and more.
Get a glimpse into natural
bear behavior as the zoo’s grizzlies tear through a non-safe campsite set up
in their exhibit. Watch how bear-resistant containers (provided by Counter
Assault and Animal Resistant Can) can discourage bears. Participate
in REI’s program, Promoting Environmental
Awareness in Kids (PEAK), on how kids can have fun and be safe outdoors while
learning the seven “Leave No Trace” principles of outdoor ethics. Enter a
raffle Saturday for a complimentary Bear Resistant Food Container provided by
Counter Assault.
