About
the Grizzly Bear Outreach Project (GBOP)
The
GBOP Team:

The
GBOP is an independent project guided by community members and facilitated by Insight Wildlife Management and the Conservation Partnership
Center. The project began in Okanogan County in 2002 (click
here for map), and was expanded
to encompass Whatcom and Skagit Counties (click here for
map) in 2003.

The
purpose of the Grizzly Bear Outreach Project is to:

Grizzly Bear Outreach Project can offer:

Presentations
to community groups on grizzly bears, the grizzly bear recovery process, and
how to live and recreate safely in areas where grizzly bears are present.

Host
informal community gatherings to discuss
grizzly bears, recovery, and local black bear topics.
-
Practical,
simple advice for coexisting safely with bears.
-
Opportunities
for recognizing individuals and businesses that take steps to make their
home and community bear safe.
-
Products
such as brochures, posters, and Fact Sheets for you to distribute to friends
and family, or through your business.
-
The GBOP Bear Trunk - a box of
curriculum-based (elementary school) products for use in North Cascades
school districts.
-
A
connection to other community members who
support our principal goal - easier access to accurate, relevant information
about bears for local communities.
