GBOP seeking Field Coordinator
Wildlife Education Field Coordinator
We are currently seeking candidates for the role of field
coordinator in the Highway 2 area.
The position will be based in or near to Leavenworth,
covering an area from approximately Sultan to Wenatchee.
It is a part time position (2 days per week) coordinating outreach activities of
the Grizzly Bear Outreach Project and it's associated Bear Smart Program.
Ideally, minimum education
includes a bachelor’s degree and experience planning and implementing community
programs, but we can be flexible for the right candidate. Pays $19-21/hour incl. depending on experience. Must have dependable transportation
(0.45c/mile
reimbursed) and must reside in project area. Email resume, letter and references

- The Grizzly Bear Outreach Project (GBOP)
promotes an accurate understanding of grizzly bears and their recovery in
the North Cascades Ecosystem through community education and involvement. We
work very closely with community members in a non-advocacy setting - gauging
knowledge and opinions, providing easy access to accurate information about
grizzly bear ecology, safety, behavior, and recovery, and also ways to
prevent conflicts with black and grizzly bears. GBOP began in 2002 and has
received widespread acclaim for it's innovative approach and great potential
for replication in other areas.
- Position includes conducting one-on-one
meetings with the public, arranging and managing a community group,
delivering slide programs, brochure and poster distribution, other
educational events, working closely with community members etc.
- Relevant Bachelor's degree. Experience with
environmental education, and organizing community-based activities
definitely an asset.
- Person must be an innovative self-starter, and
someone who can work diligently without close supervision.
- Person must be self-motivated, and able to
motivate and inspire others to get engaged.
- Wildlife knowledge/experience is preferred.
- Teamwork and flexibility essential.
- Internet access critical.
- Part-time contract (2 days per week). $19-21 per hour inclusive.
- Hours flexible. Some weekends, some evenings -
depends on audience needs.
- Travel time is included in paid time.
- Mileage is compensated at 0.48c/mile. Need a
dependable car.
- Position begins early 2008. Initial
position 6 months, extension possible pending review and project funding
status.
